Nintendo DSi Portable Gaming Device: New Colors

Nintendo DSi Portable Gaming Device: The new colors of the DSi will be available on March 20th, while previously mentioned black and blue versions of the system will come to North America on April 5th. Black and white DSis will ship in Europe on April 3rd and Australia on April 2nd. Nintendo has not mentioned when the new colors will launch in these regions, however. The black and white DSis are currently available in Japan.

The DSi in either color will be priced at the same 18,900 yen (about $194) in Japan, including tax. When the system launches in the US, it will cost $170. It will soon be available in pink, green and metallic green in addition to the traditional white and black.

Compared to its predecessor, the DS Lite, the new system adds an SD card slot for music playback and audio recording and has a rear- and user-facing cameras that allow users to take photos of themselves or other scenes. An online app store called DSiWare will let users download games and other programs thanks to a Wi-Fi connection. Most DS games will be supported and the DSi retains one touchscreen and one traditional display.
